And so it begins…

I promised myself, or rather threatened… well maybe I just mused that I should write a blog as I began on my latest adventure. The difficult has been in knowing where the beginning of the adventure actually is. In April 2011 I made an offer on a short-sale house. In December the offer was finally looked at and accepted and now at the end of January 2012 I am waiting for someone to tell me when closing will be.

So why would my adventure be starting now? Because I am planning some major renovations. It’s my hope that one day after closing I will submit my plans and kick off the process. The house began as a two-bedroom, one-bath with a single car garage and at some point, the garage was remodeled (poorly) into a third bedroom. The “master” bedroom is 10×12 for size and shares the hall bath with every other user. My plan is to tear down the garage/bedroom remodel and replace it with a master bedroom suite, utility room and single car garage. At the back of the garage will be my art workshop with stairs up to a storage loft.

I’m drawing up my plans to submit for permits, working out budget and shopping allowances and already doing a little shopping. I’ve also put the word out for moving help and am relieved to have a few very helpful replies.

And so— the adventure begins.
