Fireside observation
This evening was the first time I actually started a small burn pile in the backyard that it did not immediately start raining. Hurray! As I got a few scraps of nail-ridden wood burning enough for the orange-red flames to start licking their way around the boards with a spark and crackle here and there it struck me how wonderful it will be to have a cool evening fire with friends. Of course, a construction burn pile is not the place for friends and kids
to be running around. I promise when I invite everyone over there will first be places to sit, and second, the ground won’t be strewn with nails.
Just a little after dusk out went the musing over toasted marshmallows, glasses of tempranillo, and kids playing tag in the grass as I hosed down my little pile for the night. It was truly spectacular the plume of steam that rose up from the pile.
I’ll have to make sure I plan a good spot for a fire circle.
