in the beginning…

So I need to write an artist statement. My work is on display and I need to somehow capture the what and why of my art in a pithy little paragraph. Hmm! I much prefer that conversation with someone at a show opening. And here’s the thing…I don’t have that conversation with everyone. It’s not like the reason for my art is a secret. It’s just that not everyone cares to know. Some people like certain art pieces or follow certain artists for their own reasons; not the artist’s reasons. On the special, rare occasions when my reasons align with the reasons of one appreciating the work, then I share my story. Then it is important.

But back to the task at hand: a pithy artist statement. This could take some time.
